VOLUNTEER AT BCHS

We are always looking for animal lovers to give us a hand!

VOLUNTEERING AT BRADFORD COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY

Interested In Helping Out?

We do ask that all of our potential volunteers come in during our normal hours to fill out their application in person.

We also do in person orientations for our volunteers the last Saturday of each month at 11am, these orientations generally last one half hour.

Volunteers are always welcome at the shelter. Volunteers do essential jobs around the shelter, including office work, fostering and event preparation. They can walk dogs and socialize cats. The work that volunteers perform makes the animals so much more adoptable and then the animals move quickly to families and BCHS can save more animals.

Group Volunteer orientations are held every last Saturday of the month at 11 a.m. The orientation takes about 30 to 45 minutes. All paperwork can be completed right at the orientation. If you can’t make those particular times, you can arrange a private orientation. Children under 16 are welcome, but for safety, must be accompanied by an adult guardian at all times!

Volunteering to foster animals requires specific preparation for the animals involved, because most fostered animals require particular care. The shelter environment, with its noise and closeness to many other animals, can be challenging to many dogs and cats, so fostering saves lives.

Volunteers are essential to make the cats friendly! We have wonderful helpers from Chesapeake and UTLX and others through the United Way. BCHS is proud to be a United Way of Bradford County Agency.
